Hello Dear Friends!

I have been spending quite a bit of time in my Studio

doing Quite a Few different swaps! 

I find it takes me a while to Create and Craft my Pieces.

My Grandpa would say I was as 

'Slow as Molasses in January'!

I don't know... I do find it a Process. 

I can have one Idea in my Head in the Beginning

but the finished piece can be Completely Different! 

Well if I am Just Slow 

or 

too Detail Orientated and a Perfectionist,

All I can say is I am Having Fun Every step of the Way!!

is a Label for some Mixed Media Collections

I am putting together.

She is called

'Clematis' 

and is the work of

 Hubert von Herkomer.

(Finally came up with the a Match for my 'Daphne'.) 

Both of these Images are the result of 

New Technique of Engraving 

created by von Herkomer and 

his Colleague Norman Hirst in 1899.

'Herkomer devised a method of engraving he termed, modestly, 'Herkomergravure'. He would ink by hand and with swabs of cloth on a lithographic stone, take a monotype from it, and photo-engrave the result onto a copper plate. This gave a very free and soft effect. In Daphne, he used it to create the drapery and some of the skin tone. But then, on the copper plate, mezzotint has been applied by Hirst to build the skin contours of the face and shoulders, and etching has been used to give the hair and leaves form. This combination of methods, giving 'soft' and 'hard' effects, make this engraving extremely striking.'

The Beauty was already created for me 

using these Incredibly Lovely Etchings.

Inspiration came easily.

 I started this Project Quite a while ago and  have only just Finished it!

Well..Almost Finished....

 ~*~

The Inspiration behind this piece came from wandering around one of our local thrift stores.  I noticed that they had  many Old Silver Chests in various conditions and some had just wonderful details.

This one in particular had another Drawer as Well.

Just a little sanding and some Black Paint made a Huge Difference. 

You know me! I can't stop there

 I removed all of the old Moleskin and Wood Slots for the Silver Pieces and replaced them with New Fabric and Chipboard. 

I just Love this French Script Fabric!

So Many little Details to work with!

I also Made a Ribbon Board  and glued it in the Lid.

At my Local Craft store 

I Purchased these Wood Compartmentalized Trays.

They Received some Sanding and a Nice Coat of Black Paint as Well. 

I cut Long strips of Contrasting Fabric to Line the Compartments going up and over and Down into the next Compartment.

I also Frayed the Edges of the Fabric Because I Liked the Look it Gave.

I then cut Squares of Frayed Fabric 

and Placed them at the Bottom of Each Compartment.

I didn't Even find it necessary to glue the Fabric down

 

 With all of the Left over thread from the Fabric 

I made a Little Nest for My Dove.

A Little Something Unexpected and yet still Cohesive!

 For the Top I made a Stencil using a n Exacto Knife 

and a Heavy Piece of Card stock.

Using Gold Leaf

I Dabbed and Brushed it on until I liked the Look. 

I also used Gold Leaf to Highlight the edges of my piece 

using a Brush and Sometimes just my Finger.

Good Morning Everyone!

I Hope that everyone Enjoyed a Wonderful Weekend 

and Fathers Day ! 

My Dad , Mom and Sister Came for Dinner last night

and we had a Wonderful Visit!

I enjoyed watching my Children's Faces as they Listen to their Grandpa tell them Stories of when he was young and 

Growing up in the Small Midwestern town of Hawkins Wisconsin .

The Stories of his past are so very Clear in his Mind. Grandparents are such an Important aspect in a Families Life! 

They are Truly a Treasure  !

It was  a Good Day!

 My Love of Birds Inspired these! 

The Nest Images ,Frame  and Label are From Karen of the Graphics Fairy!

Currently they have become Note Cards !

But Have Great Plans for them!

So MUCH FUN to Be Had!

I have to tell you that making these
Shabby Fabric Cones
was a Joy for Me
and I Love how they Turned out!
Nancy's once again has provided us with

Here I used a Vintage Rhinestone Pin
to Embellish as well as a Lacy Vintage Doily
and Mother of Pearl Buttons.

Sage Green and Cream Colors.
I embellished with some of the

 Hello Everyone! 

Time seems to be Flying these days! 

I Have been Neglecting My Wonderful Blog Friends! 

Its Time for Me to Get on the Ball and Visit with you again!

This Little Sweetpea is my Mother when she was 4 years old!

She will be turning 80 Soon 

and we are having a 

Surprise Birthday Party 

for her in June! 

She will Be most Definitely be Surprised

because her Birthday isn't until 

the End of August! 

We  told her that we are having a Family BBQ 

when my Brother arrives from Alaska that day so we didn't 

Scare the Daylights out of her. We will just have some Added Guests.

Looking Forward to it and I can't think of Anyone 

who Deserves a Party in their Honor more than My Mother!

 

 I Have been Diligently 

Making Special Invitations to Send out as Keepsakes.

I was Cutting so Much Paper for awhile that you couldn't see the Floor!

I Used Multiple Layers of Images.

The Lacy Edge came from a French Holy Card

from Karen of the Graphics Fairy. I used my scalloped scissors to give it the Lace Border Effect. Then a Layer of Lovely Blue Paper and Her Picture that I actually Transferred Digitally on the Lacy Background Paper.

You Know me! I can't just Stop there! 

I added the Butterfly and the Poem!

The Label the Poems is Printed on is from Karen as Well. 

It is a French Perfume Label !I coveredthe Graphics Because I thought the 

Detailing of the Label itself was Perfect for my Poem!

 

This Is my Mothers Graduation Photo! 

She Graduated from High School in 1950 in a little Town

called Blooming Prairie! 

Their High School Team name was the Blossoms! 

Yep, The Blossoms!

Apparently their Foot Ball Team was Pretty Tough!!

It Kinda Makes me think of the Johnny Cash song 'A boy Named Sue'

 I cannot tell you How Many Butterflies I Cut out.....

It was in the Hundreds though!
